8th Century Roman Canteen.
This is without a doubt one of my favorite pieces. I started with 2 pieces of English walnut and sandwiched a piece of Paduak between them and glued them all together. Once the blank was ready I proceeded to shape the main body. Then I turned the blank to a different axis and glued on the spout made from African Gabon Ebony. Next it was drilling a hole in the spout through to the main body. Once that was complete it was on to hollow the body, insert the Paduak medallions and finish the whole project. Wood Species Used: English Walnut African Paduak African Gabon Ebony Total time to create about 40 hours -

This is a marriage of an exotic wood (Zebrano) and a domestic wood (Maple) then turned on my wood lathe and transformed into a beautiful and functional tool. -

Handmade American Black Walnut and African Paduak Coffee Scoop
I hand turn this and other great pieces on my wood lathe from American Black Walnut and African Paduak wood. The 2 woods make a great complement to each other. The bowl on this scoop is walnut and holds 1 good tablespoon and the handle is Paduak. The scoop is a full seven inches long and can reach comfortably into the lower depths of a 1lb. bag of coffee. The bowl has some detail texture on the bottom and the whole scoop is finished in a food safe beeswax and mineral oil finish. This will make a great addition to your kitchen or a wonderful gift! -

Bolivian Rosewood Pill Box.
This small box was made from a chunk of Bolivian Rosewood. It can be used to hold toothpicks, pill, snuff, sewing needles, cash stash and small valuables. A great gift for that special someone who seems to have everything.
